The next bidding event held by Hathersage estate agents at Eadon, Lockwood and Riddle is expected to attract an unprecedented interest from potential buyers after intense battles at the Summer auction last year.

A Victorian shooting lodge with guide price of £585,000 and “spectacular” views of the Peak District is among the lots on offer at The Maynard in Grindleford on June 23.

And a year on from the sale of a dilapidated garage in Calver, whichw as sold for more than three times its asking price, the estate agent said more buyers than ever are taking advantage of this quick selling method.

Director Nick Riddle said: “Auctions are incredibly popular at the moment, with many buyers looking with interest at what properties and what land is available to be purchased.

“Last year we sold a shed for £80,000 during an auction, even though it only had a guide price of £25,000. The building was fought over by 20 bidders – certainly reflective of the fact that one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure.”
