POLICE have launched an investigation after a suspected cannabis farm is believed to have caused a house fire.
At around midday today, a neighbouring resident alerted emergency services to house fire on Parkland View, Darley Dale.
Firefighters from Matlock were in attendance shortly after and located a blaze in the attic of the house concerned.
Police were also in attendance and discovered what is believed to be equipment for growing cannabis and the charred remains of plants.
A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “Officers found around 20 or 30 cannabis plants in the attic which were burnt in the fire.
“An investigation has been launched into how the house fire started and one women has been arrested.”
Emergency services are still in attendance at the two-bedroom house. Gas and electricity supplies have been cut off.
