Swimmers asked to mend a broken heart

A charity is appealing to swimmer to help celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The Ashbourne Branch of the British Heart Foundation will be hosting a sponsored swim in the Arc leisure centre, in Matlock.

The event will be held on October 20, between 5pm and 9pm, and will mark the branch’s 40th birthday.

All funds raised from the event will go towards the foundation’s Mending Broken Hearts appeal.

Branch chairman John Dean will be swimming with members of the committee cheering him on and helping to co–ordinate the event from the poolside.

He said: “It really doesn’t matter whether people swim one length or the full fifty – everyone is welcome.

“It’s the second year we have organised a sponsored swim at Arc Leisure, Matlock, and it’s all about taking part and raising funds for the Mending Broken Hearts Appeal.

“Please get in touch for your entry and sponsor form today and let’s try to beat last year’s total of £2,500.”

Anyone interested in taking part need to register to receive a sponsorship form.

To do so, people can contact John Dean, the event organiser, on 01298 687320 or email dean580@btinternet.com.
