A community swimming pool has celebrated its thirtieth birthday.
A team of staff and employees marked the anniversary of the opening of Wirksworth Swimming Pool on Saturday with a day of festivities.
A range of free swimming activities were on offer – from rookie lifeguard sessions to adult aquafit.
Cllr Mike Ratcliffe, Mayor of Wirksworth, Cllr Lewis Rose, leader of Derbyshire Dales District Council and Cllr Garry Purdy, Derbyshire county councillor, all joined David Baker, chairman of trustees at Wirksworth Swimming Pool, to say a few words.
They thanked residents for their support of the pool and praised the team of trustees and staff at the pool
David Baker, Glyn Booth, pool manager, and Billy Marsh, winner of the pool’s recent design a logo competition, then cut a special birthday cake.
