Two teams of year five and six children, aged from nine to 11, travelled to the Meridian Leisure Centre in Louth, Lincolnshire, to compete in the gala against schools from across Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Director of sport at S Anselm’s Donna Brailich, said: “The children did extremely well to win in both races, especially as most of the children have never participated in an event of this scale before.”

The finals will take place at Ponds Forge on June 17.
