This Christmas will see Bakewell’s traditional Christmas tree and crib reinstated to their usual positions in the centre of Bath Gardens – alongside last year’s controversial Christmas tableau.
Mayor Frank Hall said: “Although the new Christmas Tableau was not universally welcomed last year, a large number of positive comments about this unique and striking depiction of the Nativity were received. We feel it is important that it has a place in the town’s celebrations again this year.
“We are now considering a site for it to the side of the central area in Bath Gardens so that the traditional and the new can communicate in their different ways the same joy of the Christmas message. We think that this will create a magical focal point for Bakewell’s festive activities.”
