Tansley: Doggy hotel offers to keep your pooch in the lap of luxury

Chandeliers, flat screen TVs and under floor heating – it would be more than just a dog’s life at a special hotel proposed for Tansley.

Dogs would be living in the lap of luxury while their owners were away at the proposed hotel on Oaksedge Farm, Foxholes Lane, Tansley, which aims to give them as much home comfort as possible.

The application has been submitted to Derbyshire Dales District Council by Craig Elliott, who already runs successful dog hotel, Waggy Tails, in Bonsall, with his wife Abigail.

She said: “The proposed hotel would be exactly the same as the existing business.

“The dogs have runs not kenels, and they have got their own bedrooms with proper human beds. They have got chandeliers, flat screen TVs and under floor heating.”

Abigail explained that the purpose of the hotel is to make the dogs feel as at home as possible.

“They don’t feel as alien,” she added. “It just makes them miss their owners a little less.”

Abigail, who has worked with dogs for many years, said she even plays dog–based DVDs to the dogs, such as Lassie.

The application, submitted to Derbyshire Dales District Council, proposes the demolition of existing outbuildings, creation of new agricultural buildings and kennels and alterations to parking and access. The dog boarding area has been designed to keep noise levels down with sound–deadening material used on the kennels. The dog runs would also be sunk into the hillside and surrounded by stone walls.
