A DARLEY Dale teacher is preparing for the London Marathon, determined both to beat her previous time and to raise £1,000 for Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF).
The charity is important to Yvonne Salome-Keetley after offering support to her family when her niece, Erica, was born with the life-threatening disease, biliary atresia. It led to a life saving liver transplant at the age of 11.
Yvonne, who works at Barlborough Hall School in Chesterfield, explained: “I’m not a natural runner – I’m only doing this to raise awareness and funds for CLDF.
“I’m determined to beat the six hours nine minutes I clocked up in 2008, but the most important thing is raising the money!”
