Teens taught biker safety

Teens have been learning about the dangers of driving motorcycles thanks to a new film.

Pupils aged 15 and 16 years old John Flamsteed Community School in Denby were shown the video produced by Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership.

The main story in the film concerns a teenage motorcyclist who ends up with broken legs after car driver fails to spot him when pulling out of a junction.

Andy Adlington, the partnership’s motorcycle project officer, said: “We need to work with riders and drivers to stop motorcyclists getting killed and injured on Derbyshire’s roads.

“Pupils in their mid to late teens are excited about the prospect of getting a set of wheels.

“We’re keen to talk to them about the challenges they’ll face on the road.”
