Test of strength pulls in the crowds

The popular Tractor Pull at the Red Lion Birchover pulled in the crowds on Saturday.

The event saw 12 teams of five battling it out to win personalised ‘Tractor Pull Winner’ beer donated by Peak Ale Brewery of Chatsworth.

All teams were offered two chances of pulling the tractor.

The teams/times were:

Spireites (41.8 and 26.4)

Mansfield Adults (31.7)

Northern Monkeys (22.6 and 21.7)

Worthington’s Originals (27.3 and 26.3)

Scousers and Locals (28.1 and 22.3)

Mansfield Lads (21.1)

Kubota Pullers (23.0)

The Hillbillys (17.3, 15.7)

Bircher Big Boys (19.8 and 16.6)

Rztchies (35.0)

Barn Farm (17.5 and 14.7)

The winning time of 14.7 seconds was recorded by Barn Farm.

The Carnival Committee thanked MVIS Signs from Tansley for supplying the event with the advertising sign, Bill Elliott of Birchover for ‘driving’ and the loan of his tractor. Thanks also to Costa Coffee, Bakewell, Edward and Vintage of Tissington (Vintage Sweet Shop), The Painted Plate Crafts at Eyam, The Quad Cinema, Derby and Peak Rail for their kind donation of raffle prizes. The event raised £455 on the night, towards the main Carnival, which is taking place on 13 July this year.
