THIEVES have been targeting catalytic converters in a spate of recent attacks.
Between Thursday, April 28 and Wednesday, May 4, catalytic converters were stolen from a Kia Sportage and a Ford Ranger in Stoney Close, Bakewell and a Ford Transit at Calver Works.
Vehicles in Hathersage and Castleton were also attacked.
Community safety inspector Tony Dales said: “We believe the thieves are crawling beneath vehicles and using special cutting equipment to remove the converters.
“To a passer-by, it probably looks as though someone is simply repairing their car.
“If you see anyone acting suspiciously around a vehicle, particularly if they are looking underneath it, please contact police.”
