Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Friday, May 6, how Mario Luigi Bramante, 24, of Talbot Street, Hasland, Chesterfield, was in Einstein’s Bar on Holywell Street, in Chesterfield, when he punched the doorman.

Prosecuting solicitor Sarah Haslam said: “Richard Jenkinson is a door supervisor at Einstein’s bar and just after 2am, on April 16, he noticed two females sat at a table and he thought the defendant wasn’t leaving a female alone.

“The defendant raised a fist and said kiss this and turned to a friend who kissed his fist and then he swung the fist punching the complainant in the left cheek.”

CCTV footage of the incident showed Bramante’s friend kissing his fist before the defendant punched the doorman and then his friend can be seen trying to pull Bramante away.

Bramante pleaded guilty to the assault and the court heard how the defendant has got previous convictions for assault.

Defence solicitor Kirsty Sargent said: “The female involved is a friend of Mr Bramante’s and of everyone in that group of friends and she had not wanted him to leave her alone. But Mr Bramante accepts the door staff’s misinterpretation of the situation and he accepts he punched him.”

Bramante was ordered to pay £170 in costs and a victim surcharge, as well as £100 in compensation.
