Thug is jailed for assaults

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard how Peter Storer, 20, of No Fixed Abode, was visiting relatives in Creswell when he became embroiled in a dispute as he was spotted with another girl.

Becky Allsop, prosecuting, explained Storer and his partner have been in a violent relationship where there have been trust issues.

She said: “Storer’s partner received a text saying he had been drinking with a girl and this angered her and she and Storer’s sister searched for him and they saw the defendant.”

Mrs Allsop added that Storer’s partner had his hand on the girl’s backside and his partner became angry and was shouting at him and the girl.

Storer came flying at his partner and knocked her to the ground, according to Mrs Allsop, and he grabbed his sister and took her mobile phone and threw it into bushes.

As the complainant returned to the Model Village, Creswell, he was approached again by his partner and he pushed her to the ground and repeatedly kicked her causing injuries to her ribs.

Storer then damaged a passenger-side window of a van and put a dent in the bonnet of a car during a rant.

The defendant pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, three counts of criminal damage and admitted breaching a previous anti-social behaviour order after the offences were committed on June 16.

Defence solicitor Bob Bashforth said: “This case has involved quite a stormy relationship from both sides.

“The defendant does say that prior to the assault when his partner stumbled across him she was going for him but that does not excuse kicking her on the ground.”

Mr Bashforth added that Storer has had a desperately difficult childhood and has had problems with cannabis and alcohol.
