Top marks for Anthony Gell students

Students at Anthony Gell School have wowed staff with another fantastic rook of A Level results.

With sixth formers heading off to study an array of subjects – including medicine, performing arts, forensic chemistry, philosophy and politics – and even one student moving to Oklahoma to study, Head Teacher David Barker was keen to congratulate pupils.

“Our students have worked really hard to achieve these results, not just in the last few months but throughout their time at school,” he said.

But this year’s school leavers aren’t necessarily following the trends of previous years.

Mr Barker commented that a “large proportion” were heading straight into employment, more pupils than ever before were choosing to study on apprenticeships and many pupils heading to university were “choosing locally” and continuing to reside with family to avoid costly loans.

“Anthony Gell is represented at universities around this country and abroad and I hear of many students gaining excellent degrees and doctorates and going on to highly successful careers. I am sure this year’s cohort will follow in their footsteps and I look forward to hearing about them in the future,” said Mr Barker.
