Tourism hot spot rescue

A WOMAN had to be rescued from a famous tourist spot after an ankle injury left her unable to walk.

The 25-year-old had been walking down from Thorpe Cloud towards the Dovedale Stepping Stones when she slipped and injured her ankle.

An ambulance crew were first on the scene to provide initial treatment but 15 members of Derby Mountain Rescue were tasked with getting the woman to hospital.

A specialised rescue stretcher and rope system were used to get her to the bottom of the hill and across the river to the waiting ambulance.

She was then taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for further treatment.

This is the fourth time the team have been called out to the location this year.
