Belper’s tastiest festival will be serving-up 120 food stalls at this year’s event, which is being held on Sunday between 10am and 4pm.

There will also be a plethora of live music across numerous venues, arts and crafts, abundant real ale, a classic car rally, as well as a farm in the town centre for the children to enjoy.

“While the food is predominantly locally sourced, and by local businesses, the range of what’s on offer spans right across the world. It’s really exciting. There will be plenty for vegetarians and vegans as well.”

Wendy added: “So everybody should get involved with this year’s event. It’s free to attend, and it is such a positive thing for the town.

As ever, it will be a fantastic atmosphere too – come rain or shine.”

There will be live bands playing all day at the Market Place, Memorial Gardens and Fresh Basil.

The line-ups feature local bands, as well as nationally acclaimed groups and artists, covering a range of genres.

The food stalls will be held on Kings Street, Campbell Street and Strutt Street.

Wendy said: “Most of the shops will be opening and getting involved with the festival too, so there will be a great atmosphere in Belper.”

Last week The News reported that the firm subcontracted to organise this year’s event pulled out at the last minute – sparking fears the event would not go ahead.

But despite company Devonshire Markets cancelling, organisers and the town council have rallied to keep the event on course. Wendy Moore, chair of the food festival, said: “The fact that the festival is on, with the same line-up, shows the resilience of Belper folk. It was heard work, but so worth it.”
