Tragic dad hanged himself after ban

A dad who was not allowed to see his infant son hanged himself, an inquest heard.

Tragic Jamie Nightingale, 22, took his own life at Hazlehurst Lane, Chesterfield, on August 23 last year.

Chesterfield coroner’s court heard how Mr Nightingale was banned from making contact with his partner and four-month-old son as part of bail conditions imposed after he was arrested for various offences at the beginning of August.

His dad, David, who found his son hanging, told the court: “In the last three weeks he was a different person – he’d get angry.”

His mum, Tracey, added: “He used to be such a bubbly person who enjoyed life. He just wanted to see his son.”

Coroner Dr Robert Hunter concluded Mr Nightingale took his own life while the balance of his mind was affected.

Dr Hunter said: “It’s a tragic case. When you’re in love and break-ups happen, emotions can run high.”
