Disruption to commuters as broken down lorry causes lane on M1 near Chesterfield to close

Delays are expected to last for the next half an hour on the M1 near Chesterfield, after a broken down lorry forces a lane to close.

Highways England confirmed one lane on the M1 Southbound from J29A A6192 Erin Road in Markham Vale and Bolsover to J29 A617 towards Chesterfield and Mansfield has been temporarily shut after a vehicle broke down.

Traffic is coping well according to the highways authority and is expected to be cleared by between 10:30 and 10:45am today (March 12).
