Drivers in Derbyshire and South Yorkshire are also being warned about delays as work is carried out under seven bridges on the M1, over six weekends.

Both carriageways between junction 30 near Chesterfield and junction 31 near Sheffield will be affected at weekends until 9 November.

Lane closures and a 50mph speed limit will be in place, which the Highways Agency said could cause some delays.

The work is part of a scheme to convert part of the M1 to a “Smart Motorway”.
