Tribute flight for Bomber

Last Saturday Her Majesty the Queen had a fly past by the Battle of Britain memorial flight and later in the day the Lancaster Bomber came to Starkholmes Village Fete also flying down Mornington Rise above the roof tops to pay a “flying visit” to the home of Ken Gregory who has been a member of the Lincolnshire and Lancaster Memorial Flight for many years.

He volunteered to join the RAF and was in active service from 1942 to 1945 on Lancaster Bombers on day and night raids over Germany followed by, near to the end of the war and soon afterwards, the dropping of food to the starving Dutch people and was presented with a certificate and medal by the Ambassador of the Netherlands in recognition.

After the war he was on RAF Transport Command for several years flying from Lyneham, Wiltshire to many parts of the world.
