Twelve men due in court over large-scale Derbyshire Land Rover theft operation

In recent years, police have seen a rise in the number of 4x4s being stolen or stripped for parts.

To combat the crime, Derbyshire police launched Operation Halston to target anyone involved in the theft or sale of vehicles or parts.

Working in partnership with Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire police forces, the operation lasted for 18 months.

Police have recovered several vehicles and a large amount of parts which officers believe to have been stolen.

In total, 28 people were arrested as part of the inquiry and 12 will appear at Northern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 13.

The men are; Gareth Houlden, 36, and Darren Keeton, 28, of Danewood Gardens, Sheffield; Karl Ray, 28, of Thornborough Road, Sheffield; Andrew Roberts, 39, of Winn Drive, Sheffield; Bradley Ellis, 26, of Haigh Moor Way, Sheffield; Gavin Critchley 31, of Thorpe Drive, Waterthorpe; Simon Evans, 30, of Richmond Road, Sheffield; Nathan Williams,33, of Sanderling Way, Mansfield; Peter Houghton 31, or Fellbrigg Road, Sheffield; Shaun Goodwin, 44, of Southfields, Clowne; Aaron Wood 26, of Errington Road, Sheffield and Benjamin Stubbs, 25, of Euston Way, Dinnington.

The men have been charged with conspiring to steal a motor vehicle, while Mr Wood has been summonsed for the same offence.
