Two car crash hospitalises pensioner

An 82-year-old woman has been airlifted to hospital today after being involved in a two car collision near Bakewell.

Firefighters from Buxton and Matlock were called to the A6020 at Ashford-in-the-Water at approximately 13:20 and set about freeing the most seriously injured casualty – a female passenger who was trapped in the car.

The fire and rescue service removed the roof of the car, in order to free the patient. Meanwhile the Air Ambulance crew immobilised the patient, who was believed to be suffering from chest injuries, and administered pain relief.
