Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit arrested the driver of a green Vauxhall Meriva in Hathersage on Saturday, April 21, after finding the vehicle was uninsured and the driver failed a drug test.

The driver was stopped yesterday afternoon, April 21, after police noted that it was uninsured.

A police spokesman said: “It’s every young petrol-head’s dream to own a Vauxhall Meriva to customise and improve. The driver achieved that but failed to insure his pride and joy.”

During the stop, officers tested the driver using a drug wipe and detected traces of cannabis.

The vehicle was seized and the driver was escorted to a police cell to await further action.
