THE head teacher of one Dales school has expressed ‘disappointment’ after vandals smashed over 50 windows in two separate attacks.

Duncan Meikle, head teacher of Lady Manners, spoke out after vandals smashed 23 windows at the school between 9.30am on Saturday, October 20, and 1pm on Sunday, October 21.

The school suffered damage the previous weekend as well when 27 windows were broken.

Duncan said: “We are disappointed that the school has been targeted. We now have increased security checks on site and the police have also stepped-up their patrols.

“These crimes are being investigated and we are keen to find out who is involved.”

It is outbuildings known as ‘Highfileds’ that have been targeted in the two attacks.

The outbuildings are used to teach sixth-formers and are apart from the school campus.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “Nothing appears to have been stolen from the school in these incidents but we are investigating and would urge anybody with information to come forward by contacting police on the non-emergency number 101.”
