Foodies flocked to a market town for a tasty weekend of culinary delights.
The third annual Bakewell Food Festival attracted hordes of visitors from far and wide.
Sue Smethurst, one of the organisers, said: “It got a lot of people into the town and we got a lot of positive feeback.
“There were a number of people staying over in B and Bs in the area – we had a family from Holland who came especially for the festival, we also had people from Germany.”
She said despite the bad weather forecast the skies stayed relatively clear.
“Traders said they had an amazing weekend,” Sue added. “They were asking if they could book again for next year.”
More than 70 stalls were set up across town on Saturday and Sunday offering a wide choice of foods.
There was also food and drink tasting and cookery demonstrations by Janine Lishman–Peat, former Masterchef finalist and raconteur.
Highlights included a cook–off session between Mirella Kovacs, head chef of the Rutland Arms, and Peak FM’s James Summers, as well as a mini artisan food fair run by Hartingtons and discounts in various cafes and restaurants.
