VIDEO: Derbyshire police issues advice on how to spot damaged snares

After a badger was found dead in tampered snare in Hayfield Derbyshire Police has issued advice on what to do if you see a damaged trap.

On Monday, April 9 a dead badger was found in snare on farmland and the police has reiterated the message about what to do if you see a snare while out and about.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Rural Crime Team, who made the video, said: "We understand that the use of snares is a contentious issue, however they are used as a way of controlling fox populations and are legal, providing the snare is free running and non-locking.

"Theft or damage to lawfully set snares is a criminal offence and will be investigated. If you do suspect that snares are being used illegally please report this to police via 101 and let us investigate any misuse."

Anyone with any information about the dead badger in Hayfield is asked to call 101 and quote crime number 18*154722.
