Derbyshire police have launched a summer drink-drive campaign.

The force is taking part in the national crackdown on drink-driving, which runs from June 1 to 30.

As part of the campaign, officers across Derbyshire will be breath-testing drivers, with a focus on those who get behind the wheel the morning after a night out.

During last year’s campaign, 273 drivers were stopped, with 44 testing positive, refusing to take the breath test or failing it.

Anyone caught and convicted of drink-driving will get a criminal record, lose their driving licence for at least a year and can even risk losing their job.

The campaign is aimed at highlighting the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and the devastation it can cause.

A video produced by Derbyshire Constabulary and featuring graphic images of road traffic collisions has also been re-issued for the campaign.

To report a drink-driver, call police on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
