The communities of Disley and Newtown are gearing up for their annual well dressing festival celebrations this weekend.
Several colourful well dressings will be displayed in the Woodland Memorial Garden, behind St Mary’s Church in Disley, from Saturday June 15 to Thursday June 20.
The main festivities take place on Saturday, with Morris and maypole dancing on the Ram Green from 12.30pm onwards. A procession to the Woodland Garden at 2pm will be followed by an afternoon of musical entertainment.
Festival organisers will be operating a free shuttle bus throughout the afternoon between the Ram’s Head car park and the Woodland Garden.
A special service will be held at St Mary’s Church on Sunday at 2pm, led by the Rev Margaret Owens.
Lunches and afternoon tea will be served in the church from 11.30am during each day of the festival.
