A charity which is in the running for a major grant is urging people to vote in a television broadcast tonight.
First Taste, based in South Darley, has been shortlisted for Big Lottery Funding of over £50,000 ahead of next June’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Projects from across the region will be competing for a share of the Lottery’s royal roll-out as part of a televised competition to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The charity’s VOYAGE project – Valuing of Youth and Age – is in the running for the grant.
If the project comes out on top it will run interactive workshops between Matlock Highfields School students and elderly residents from Tansley House.
A short film about the charity’s work will be shown today (Tuesday, June 28) along with a film of one other project during the 6 o’clock News on Central ITV.
Viewers will be asked to telephone the VOYAGE Project’s allocated telephone number to register their vote.
Voting is from 9am to midnight
