Walker taken to hospital after falling from High Tor in Matlock Bath

A walker who fell a ‘significant distance’ near the High Tor area in Matlock Bath over the weekend had to be rushed to hospital for treatment.

The rambler was treated by East Midlands Ambulance Service Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and taken to QMC Hospital, Nottingham following the accident on Saturday, May 1 .

A second causality who was stuck on a scree slope was assisted back up to the path by Derby Mountain Rescue Team members using a rope system for fall prevention and fortunately escaped from the incident uninjured.

The limestone crag at High Tor is one of the highest inland cliffs in the country and believed to be one of the last place eagles nested in England. Giddy Edge footpath at High Tor has a 300ft drop.
