STAFF at a hospital ward have celebrated their 25th anniversary, and marked the occasion by getting in some new furniture for their conservatory.

The Birchover Ward at Whitworth Hospital opened its doors in 1986, and since then has undergone improvements, with many funded by Matlock Hospital’s League of Friends.

League Chair, Diana Dakin joined honorary secretary Pam Wildgoose to hand over the furniture to Wilma Hulland, in-patient matron, and Joanne Housley ward manager, from the Whitworth Hospital on Monday.

Mrs Dakin said “ We are delighted to be able to give this furniture which will ensure that users of the conservatory can do so in comfort.

“It is also exciting to be celebrating 25 years of Birchover Ward which has provided a high level of care for many Matlock residents in the last quarter of a century.”
