Pupils and parents at Cromford C of E School pulled on their wellingtons for a sponsored walk last Friday.
A few people from the village also joined in, getting the half-term break off to a stomping good start and raising money for the school.
Pupils were first asked to design a pair of boots. The winning design in the infants category was by Roxy Wright, and the junior winner was Tommy Paine.
They then hiked for 45 minutes along paths above the village, negotiating numerous stiles, and returning to the school just as the rain started for hot chocolate, hot dogs and certificates.
“They absolutely loved it,” said parent governor Louise Goode.
“It just made it a bit novel for them – rather than just going off in their trainers, they all had their wellies.
“There’s lots of sheep muck up there and I think that was the highlight,” she said.
