STAFF and children at Carsington and Hopton after school club are jumping for joy after receiving a massive £10,000 cheque from the National Lottery.
The club received the cash boost from the Awards for All Lottery Grant and the money will go to fund dozens of different activites at the rapidly expanding club.
Organiser Sue Surgey said: “It was a bit of a shock, we weren’t expecting to get anywhere near that amount. We’ve just become Ofsted regulated.
“We formed because we’re such a small primary school that big school can be a shock, so we wanted to give children the chance to mix with others.
“We’ve got some bhangra dancing, arts and crafts, gardening and children will be raising their own chicks. We may be a little school, but we’ve got big plans.”
