Wirksworth filmmaker Stuart Wheldon is seeking production funding as he gears up to shoot his next horror short this summer.

Don’t Follow the Light will be a short prequel film to a longer feature, Vanished, which writer-director Stuart has in development.

He said: “The prequel pre-empts the story of Gillian Gold, a tenacious investigative journalist, who disappears amid a succession of unsolved murders.”

Stuart hopes to begin shooting in rural locations across Derbyshire this summer, and has already cast actors Lana O’Kell, Nigel Barber, Paul Dewdney and Dilly Evans-Smith.

The project follows on from Stuart’s success with his previous psychological horror The Telephone, which captured critical acclaim and audience attention at independent film festivals around the world.

The crowdfunding page will launch within the next fortnight. For more information, visit vanishedfilm.org.

Stuart said: “I hope that with the help of a generous public, who believe in the power of the independent, the film’s essence can be expressed in full.”
