Wirksworth man charged with criminal damage after windows smashed

A 25-year-old man has been charged with criminal damage after windows were smashed in the Wirksworth area.

Overnight between Tuesday, February 24 and Wednesday, February 25, officers received a number of reports from residents whose windows had been smashed or damaged.

The incidents took place along Derby Road, Bournebrook Avenue and Recreation Road in Wirksworth.

Jacob Hare, of Wheatcroft Close, Wirksworth, has been charged with criminal damage. He is set to appear at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 1.

PC Dan Mitchell from the Wirksworth and Middleton Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “I would like to thank the community for working alongside us to help to bring those responsible to justice.

“Wirksworth is a nice place to live and acts of criminal damages will not be accepted.

“I would like to encourage to the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity to us so that we can continue to cut crime.”
