Hundreds of people took to Matlock’s Hall Leys Park on Saturday, June 6 to be treated to a family fiesta of good eating, amazing attractions and some super heroes.
As a thank you to the town for all its support over the years, owner of Cafe in the Park, Kate Lane, 43, laid on the jam-packed funday as the cafe celebrates its 15th birthday.
Kate, who spent six months planning the event, said: “We were overwhelmed with the support from our local community as there were thousands of people there throughout the day.
“I stood back and watched the community coming together and enjoying themselves, it was wonderful. Some people have even asked if it can be a yearly event. The superheroes were extremely popular with the children as was the circus act ‘Jugalubs’.”
A whole managerie of unusual creatures were also on hand for a cuddle from youngesters, including a giant yellow snake, said Kate.
“The café team were amazing they worked so hard all day,” she added.
Special thanks to Gullivers for an amazing first prize of a family hotel stay at the Gullivers hotel at Warrrington, and Kate also praised Debbie and Janice from the Childrens Centre who spent all day face painting and all her helpers who volunteered their time through the day.
