Police are now looking for the Good Samaritans who helped the 20-year-old woman after she was confronted by two women on Saturday, December 10 at around 6.30pm as she was walking through Hall Leys Park on Causeway Lane, Matlock.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “The women began to kick her until she fell to the floor and attempted to steal her handbag.

“The offenders, described as white and wearing puffer coats with the hoods up, ran off empty handed in the direction of Knowleston Place.”

Following the incident, officers are looking to trace an elderly woman and two men who helped the victim up from the floor and out of the park.

It is believed that the men and woman, thought to be from the Cromford area, may have witnessed the attempted robbery.

The police would like to speak to anyone who may have information that could help the investigation.
