Would-be thieves target lorries

Two lorries had their trailers slashed open by would-be thieves who checked whether there were valuables stored inside.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said the HGVs were parked in a compound at P Bromley and Sons, in Wimsey Way, Somercotes, when the trailer curtains were slashed open.

Nothing was stolen during the incident, which took place between 5pm on Wednesday and 8am the following morning.
