Sports coaches who have a disability, or who coach disabled participants, are being encouraged to apply for a bursary from the Coaching Derbyshire Bursary Fund in the third of the fund’s themed rounds.
The Coaching Derbyshire Bursary Fund offers grants to coaches to help them gain qualifications and knowledge in the sports they coach, and eligible coaches can now apply for up to 65 per cent of the cost of their course, up to a maximum of £300, through the ‘disability’ themed round.
The round follows earlier themed rounds for Plus 16 and women and girls. Applications for this latest round close on June 30.
The Coaching Derbyshire Bursary Fund is well-established across the county and currently supports more than 200 coaches per year.
Grants of up to 50 per cent of the cost of a course, up to the value of £200, will continue to be available to coaches who do not meet the criteria of the themed rounds. For coaches undertaking a Level 3 course bursaries of up to £350 are available.
Cllr Carol Hart, chairman of Derbyshire Sport, said: “The Derbyshire Sport Coach Bursary Fund offers support to coaches to help them gain accredited qualifications, and we launched the themed rounds to provide additional help to those coaches from under-represented groups. “
