YORKSHIRE and Derbyshire Cricket League teams dodged the showers at the weekend as the season entered its second month.
In Division Two, Calver had a six-wicket win at home over Civil Service. The away side, batting first, made 170 with Frier again amongst the runs hitting a quick 50. Tim Hilton scored the majority of the home side’s runs with an excellent unbeaten 96 in their 172-6.
Grindleford had a good home win over Millhouses Works 2nds.
They made a modest total of 126 but bowled the visitors out for 84 to win by 42 runs.
In Division Three, league leaders Baslow were made to fight to keep their 100 per cent winning record at the lovely ground of Bakewell. Batting first, they totalled 179-8. The home side made a good reply, finally being dismissed for 155.
Moving into Division Four, Apperknowle 2nds made 127-9 but were beaten at home by Youlgrave Lodge, who achieved their victory for the loss of just three wickets.
Finally, Walkley hit an excellent score of 271-8. This proved too much for Hathersage 2nds, who were dismissed for 155 to lose the encounter by 116 runs.
