Chris Green records back-to-back wins in start of time trial season

Matlock Cycling Club’s second successive Sheldon time-trial took place on Saturday on a cold but pleasant afternoon.

Chris Green made it two-from-two as he took a comfortable win from archrival Peter Colledge.

Green managed to dip under 14 minutes this time, finishing the tough hilly course in 13 minutes and 52 seconds – a 9 second improvement over last week.

Peter Colledge only managed a second faster than the previous week as he finished comfortably in second place on 14:17.

Paul Hodgkinson, held up in the previous week’s event by farm vehicles, took a well deserved third place – narrowly missing out on going under 15 minutes – with 15:09.

Matlock CC’s 2013 time-trial series got underway on Saturday, February 9 with the 5-mile Sheldon Circuit.

Chris Green began where he left off in 2012 by taking a fine win from old-rival Peter Colledge.

Green, one of the club’s best climbers, recorded a time of 14 minutes and 1 second – some 17 seconds quicker than Colledge who was well clear of the rest in second place.

Third place went to newcomer John Johnson (15:33).
