Club in call to townsfolk

THE cricket season is now under way and Matlock Cricket Club representatives are encouraging townsfolk to come along and support their local team.

The club has teams at all age groups with the first team, playing in Division One of the County League, winning a great game on Saturday against Clifton. The seconds have started well with Matthew Haywood marking his return to the club with a fine century last week.

Senior nets are held on Tuesday evenings at Causeway Lane and interested parties are very welcome to come along to meet the players and join in the practice.

This year’s overseas player at the club is Burton de Wet who will make his debut on Saturday. Junior practice takes place on Saturday mornings and children of all ages are very welcome to come along. Sessions run from 9.30am to 11.30am. There are also places still available in the Quick Cricket Team which plays on a Friday. For details, go to
