Burns hits red-hot form as Birch Vale post victory

Vale posted 188-9 in their 45 overs with Steve Burns top-scoring with 54 and Tom McIlvenney adding 46, with S Critchlow ending with figures of 4-43.

In reply S Cartledge hit 30 for Dove Holes but figures of 4-45 from R Johnson and 3-44 from D Bradshaw saw Dove bowled all out for 144.

Hazel Grove elected to bat first at home to Hawk Green, going on to finish on 187-8 as Nick Hayward (65) found form.

Hazel Grove bowlers then struggled in the face of Sam Messih who hit a fabulous 111 not out, supported by 44 from Pete Richards as Hawk Green raced to 188-3.

Broadbottom batted first at home to Old Glossop and smashed their way to 316-8 as Aaron Walsh hit 160.

Old Glossop made a valiant stab at their run chase, with Matt Woodcock catching the eye with 77 but it was all in vain as they finished on 297-7.

Compstall travelled to Tintwistle and mustered 197-6 from their 45 overs, Dylan Heginbothom reaching 79. Tintwistle then struggled in reply finishing on 129 all out.

Mottram batted first at New Mills and made 151-6, Jordan Irons with 33. Mike Scott then took 4-27 as New Mills were bowled all out for 117.

Hayfield batted first at home to Dinting and had 89 from Jonathon Duckworth to thank for their total of 168 all out.

Dinting then lost three quick wickets but Danny Brightmore (38) and Gaz Gerrard (40) helped the visitors to 169-7 as they remain top of the table.

In Division Two Hadfield travelled to Buxworth with opener Jamie Squires stealing the show making 119 from 120 balls before Hadfield dismissed their hosts for 180.

Charlesworth asked visitors Whaley Bridge to bat first and saw them go on to make 243-4 as C McIlveen made 84 and Lee Jones 94. Charlesworth posted a response of 174-9.

Newton collapsed to 68 all out at Woodley, Jack Trowsdale taking 7-28. Dave Oldland then hit an unbeaten 38 as Woodley reached their target for the loss of just one wicket.

Chapel finished on 182-8 against Hollingworth, Stuart Milner top-scoring with 44.

Hollingworth struggled in reply, crumbling to 58 all out as J Jackson took 3-26 and L Greenwood 3-7.
