The 21-year-old, who has played club cricket at Queen’s Park since Kwik Cricket at the age of seven, comes into the squad alongside Peter Burgoyne after the pair both topped 150 against Northamptonshire last week.

Slater said: “I am really excited about the prospect.

“Playing at your home ground and scoring a few runs is what dreams are made of. Hopefully I can get that opportunity this week.

“The fixtures with Yorkshire are always great games. Chesterfield is almost on the border of Yorkshire and they always bring a few supporters to the Festival.

“We are expecting a good crowd with good support for both teams and it’s setup to be an exciting game.

“When first-class cricket returned to Chesterfield back in 2006, there was a massive increase in the number of members and junior members at Chesterfield Cricket Club – and the festival also helps bring lots of people to the Chesterfield area.

“It’s not only great for local cricket fans, but it also has a positive impact on the community and businesses in the area.”
