Derbyshire CCC furlough staff

Following discussions between the ECB, PCA and all 18 first-class counties, during which a large number of other counties have furloughed playing and non-playing staff, Derbyshire has taken this decision in order to safeguard jobs in these uncertain times.

The club will continue to operate with a skeleton staff working remotely, while The Incora County Ground remains closed until further notice.

Chief Executive, Ryan Duckett, said: “In light of the current global COVID-19 pandemic, we have taken the positive decision to place a significant number of staff and players on furlough leave.

“The government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme provides great support to the business at a very challenging time.

“We have a highly-valued network of staff across the club and this programme will allow us to protect jobs and plan for long-term sustainability.

“We will continue to proactively prepare for a return to cricket once it is safe to do so and I would like to thank all players, staff, supporters and stakeholders for their ongoing support and understanding.”

Head of Cricket, Dave Houghton, said: “These are unprecedented times and we as a collective have to do what is necessary to preserve jobs and ensure the club can return to normal as soon as possible.

“While the restrictions on group activity remain in place, the players are all highly-motivated individuals who will continue to maintain their levels of fitness for when we are safe and able to return to training.”
