Derbyshire CCC show support for Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal

Derbyshire’s NatWest T20 Blast fixture against Leicestershire Foxes next month will be dedicated to the Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal, in support of skin cancer charity Skcin.

The Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal was launched by BBC Radio Derby after Colin, who sadly passed away last month, was diagnosed with Melanoma in 2013.

His openness and dedication to raise awareness of the disease touched thousands of listeners, with the appeal raising more than £95,000 to date.

The club will be using the fixture with Leicestershire on 18th June to raise funds and build awareness of the appeal.

The club will be donating 10 per cent of each advance matchday ticket sold and each advance ticket buyer will receive a booklet on sun safety.

There will also be an opportunity for supporters to donate on the night.

Derbyshire Chief Executive, Simon Storey said: “Colin was an inspiration to thousands of people and we are proud to support his appeal.

“I had the privilege of meeting Colin on numerous occasions on the breakfast show and he enjoyed watching cricket with his friends here at Derby.

“As well as a donation made by the Club by the way of ticket sales and collections on the day, we will also be helping to spread awareness of Melanoma to children and parents across the county.
“We hope supporters, who will be encouraged to wear the colour yellow on the night, will get behind the fixture and show their support for such a worthy appeal.”

Supporters can buy matchday tickets in advance and support the Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal online at derbyshireccc.com, over the phone by calling 0871 350 1870 or in person at The 3aaa County Ground.
