The 21-year-old will remain at The Incora County Ground until the end of the 2022 season.

Conners made his first-class debut for the club against Leeds/Bradford MCCU last year, and went on to feature in County Championship fixtures against Lancashire and Middlesex, claiming five wickets.

He joins fellow Academy graduates Matt Critchley and Harvey Hosein in signing contract extensions this year, and has garnered praise from Assistant Coach (Bowling Lead), Steve Kirby.

Kirby said: “Sam has developed so much over the last two years and we are very excited about the promise he’s showing. He’s got a great bowling action and has the necessary desire to make it in first-class cricket.

Supporters love to see local players come through the system and play in the first team, and Sam definitely has the potential to do just that.”

Conners added: “I feel like my game has progressed a lot over the last two seasons, and I’m really pleased to be staying in this environment, where I think I can keep developing.

“I’ve enjoyed the first-team cricket I’ve played so far, and I’m looking forward to getting more opportunities in the near future.”
