The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first but they put up a poor showing, with Scott Allen’s 39 the best they could muster.

Remarkably five batsmen all went for ducks towards the tail end of their order, as the home side were dismissed for a total of 178.

Will Hargreaves had a prolific bowling spell for Glossop, taking 4-31.

In reply, the visitors made light work of chasing their required figure.

Dale Pennington went for 26 but fellow opener Lee Dale lasted the distance with an impressive 77 not out.

Joe Moss added 49 before being given out lbw and Alex Coates racked up nine, as Glossop reached 180-2 to seal the win.

They sit third in the standings with just four league matches remaining.

This Saturday sees Glossop host league leaders Denton West (12.30pm).
