Matlock Cricket Club to stay shut for next four weeks at least
Matlock Cricket Club is to remained close following a decision by the club’s committee.
Club officials had met to discuss the posibility of the partial reopening of the ground at Causeway Lane to allow for practice nets.
But they say, after receiving clarity about various aspects of safety regarding Covid 19, that the onus of responsibility put upon the club and the 12 people who volunteered to be site managers was too high at this stage.
A club statement said: “This decision will be reviewed in four weeks time. The committee understand the frustration that this decision may cause, but the safety of members, and the risk associated with asking others to volunteer to manage an extremely difficult situation now that full guidelines have been issued, meant we felt that we couldn't re-open the ground to any form of practice at the present time.”
