Water under the covers prevents play between Derbyshire and Gloucestershire

It was a frustrating morning for Derbyshire and Gloucestershire when rain prevented any play before lunch on the third day of the LV County Championship Division Two match at Derby.

Last night’s high winds had blown water under the covers which left a wet patch where the bowler’s land at the City End of the 3aaa County Ground and that prevented the match resuming.

It is hoped a combination of sun and wind will dry it out enough for play to start at some stage with umpires Tim Robinson and Steve Garratt due to inspect again at 12.45pm.

The match situation is that Derbyshire are 77 for 2 in their first innings trailing Gloucestershire by 252.
